Attorney
Mawuli Mel Davis is a graduate of Georgia State University
(GSU) College of Law where he was recognized in Who’s
Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
As a law student, Mawuli Served on the Executive Board for
the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA)
and as President of GSU BLSA. Mawuli attended the United
States Naval Academy in Annapolis where he played varsity
basketball and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Attorney Davis served in the United States Navy as an officer
for nearly ten years. He earned a Masters in Public Administration
from Bowie State University while on active duty in Rota,
Spain.
Mawuli has worked at three law firms that are all listed in
the Fulton County Daily Reporter’s “The Daily Dozen”
(Atlanta’s twelve largest law firms). In 2004, he was among
just 30 attorneys selected from throughout the state of Georgia
by the Georgia Criminal Defense Lawyers Associations (GACDL)
to participate in a Trial Advocacy Program. Attorney Davis
is a member of the Minorities in the Profession Committee
of the Young Lawyers Division, the Entertainment and Sports
Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Board of
Directors of GACDL. Mawuli also served on the Georgia State
University College of Law Leadership Council and as a member
of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council Diversity
Panel (GPDSCDP).
Mawuli has lived in Spain and traveled throughout Europe,
North Africa, South Africa, the Caribbean, and Cuba but he
remains “…just another brother from the Southside of Chicago”.
Attorney Davis is an active member of the Sankofa United Church
of Christ. Mawuli’s diverse life experiences have been fundamental
in the shaping of his law practice.
